Reconnecting

This blog is for the people we have not had much contact with over the past several months or more. We are all doing well, but not too much exciting is happening. Mike was out of town for work all last week (he had to go to the pan handle, near Panama City, about 5 hours from home)...actually him traveling is something new for us. Michael and I survived, but we sure did miss him. He came home on Friday and left again this morning. Hopefully when he returns on Friday he won't have to go back for a long while......we are not complaining though....at least he has a job!
My work is going OK...again, not complaining, at least I have a job! I am still a VPK (4's & 5's) teacher working for Head Start. I have 3 other co teachers and we work well together, that makes it nice. There are 18 children in our class. They are overall a good class.......they certainly have their moments though.
Michael is doing great. He is 4 1/2 already!!!!!!!! He will be starting Kindergarten in August. Where does the time go??? He is in a VPK class at a childcare center about 1 minute from where I work. He has great teachers and he loves it...although he will tell you differently. He played T ball in the fall and was bored with it. He is going to try soccer for the spring. He starts at the end of February. I am excited to be a soccer Mom....it will be so cute! At this point Michael is very interested in anything related to space....he can name all the planets in order!! We have had the chance to visit the space center as well as watch the shuttle take off. (once from an area near the space center and once at night from our front yard).
Well, we were hoping to have been able to move back to Michigan by now. Obviously that is not the case. We are sure that we won't be able to do it until the economy turns around. There is just not enough there for us to be able to live a comfortable life style....pay bills etc. Even down here we have felt the effect of the economy with Mike's work. We came down here to him having a job making a decent salary...not great, but decent. 10 months later he no longer had that job. Fortunately that boss set him up with a new job so there was no down time for him. Unfortunately the money is less. We are making it and some times are easier then others. We do realize that it could be much worse and there are others who are not as fortunate as us. We just hope (like everyone else) that the economy improves and we are able to permenantly move back to Michigan sooner rather then later.
We hope you are all doing well. I will write again soon! Take care!
