Yeah for the weekend!

I am so excited that it is the weekend....although it is already going way too fast. This is the last Saturday that we won't have to do something for a while. Michael's soccer games start next Saturday. There isn't really much to say in this post. We had a very relaxing day and enjoyed playing a little soccer with Michael. It was a beautiful day in the high 70's. Tomorrow it may rain, so we might go bowling with Michael for the first time! If we do, I will be sure to post pictures.

Mike is 40!!!

I can't believe it!!! My husband is 40!!!! Hopefully he feels that he had a good birthday. As I mentioned earlier in the week I surprised him with a visit from his Mom. He has really enjoyed having her here...(Michael and I have too of course). Saturday we ended up going to the beach...there were 6 of us. We had lunch that was just OK at a little BBQ place in New Smyrna Beach....last time we had it we really liked it. Unfortunately it wasn't as good the 2ND time. After that we went on the beach and Michael played in the sand. It was quite cool out there...we all had jackets on....except for Mike. We headed home after being on the beach and going into a few stores. When we got home Mike opened presents and then we relaxed before turning in for the night. The most unfortunate part of the day was that I ended up being sick. I didn't feel good shortly after having breakfast. Then I was OK. A little while after I got into the back of the van I started feeling queasy again. By the time we got to the restaurant, I was vomiting. I felt a little better after that. Once again though I started to feel yucky in the van and vomited after getting home.(It is about a 2 hour drive). I went to bed before everyone with the chills and a sick stomach. Luckily I feel pretty good today...not 100%, but probably about 80%. Today we are just going to hang out and Mike is making BBQ ribs and TAMALES. His Mom goes home tomorrow, so we want to have a nice day with her.

Michael's first soccer practice

Michael started soccer on Thursday 2/19. He did well. He said he liked it....and when I say he said it, I mean he yelled it from the field! He mentioned it again over the weekend. He did pretty well paying attention....especially in comparison to t ball. I think it will take him a little bit to get the hang of the game, but as long as he is having fun and paying attention that is what matters the most. He will have practice every Monday and Thursday and games on Saturday starting 3/7. I will keep you posted and will also post pictures.

Successful Surprise

I can't believe I pulled it off!!!! Mike's 40th birthday is Saturday. I was going to have a party and decided that I would not do that after he said he didn't want any kind of party...I knew he would not be real happy with a party. I did however fly his mom down to be with us for the week. He had NO CLUE! I had the day off for President's Day and I went to the airport to get her. We got home before Mike did. He was shocked to see his mom here! Happy 40th Birthday Honey! I love you!

Little scare

Well, this week certainly did not turn out the way we had hoped for! Wednesday I got a call from Michael's school. He had been pushed by a child and he fell into a table hitting his ear. I left work to go look at his ear. His ear was swollen, cut, and bruised. I took him home early so I could keep could keep an eye on him. Obviously if he hit his ear, he had to have hit his head. He was fine all of Wednesday and went to school as usual on Thursday. Midday Thursday I got a call from school again, Michael was vomitting. I immediately picked him up and took him to Express Care. I wanted to be sure he did not have a concussion. While there he got sick twice. We were there for almost 3 1/2 hours!! Michael did not feel well at all and he slept on me while there...not normal for him! They did a CT scan to be sure everything was alright. He was nervous about having it done, but he did a great job! What a brave little guy he is! Everything was fine with the scan. Guess he just coincidentally has a flu bug. Today he is still feeling yucky, but hasn't been sick anymore since 2:30 A.M. We look forward to a long and relaxing weekend. Hopefully Michael will be back to normal by Saturday. We hope you all had a great week and have a wonderful weekend! Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Reconnecting

This blog is for the people we have not had much contact with over the past several months or more. We are all doing well, but not too much exciting is happening. Mike was out of town for work all last week (he had to go to the pan handle, near Panama City, about 5 hours from home)...actually him traveling is something new for us. Michael and I survived, but we sure did miss him. He came home on Friday and left again this morning. Hopefully when he returns on Friday he won't have to go back for a long while......we are not complaining though....at least he has a job!
My work is going OK...again, not complaining, at least I have a job! I am still a VPK (4's & 5's) teacher working for Head Start. I have 3 other co teachers and we work well together, that makes it nice. There are 18 children in our class. They are overall a good class.......they certainly have their moments though.
Michael is doing great. He is 4 1/2 already!!!!!!!! He will be starting Kindergarten in August. Where does the time go??? He is in a VPK class at a childcare center about 1 minute from where I work. He has great teachers and he loves it...although he will tell you differently. He played T ball in the fall and was bored with it. He is going to try soccer for the spring. He starts at the end of February. I am excited to be a soccer Mom....it will be so cute! At this point Michael is very interested in anything related to space....he can name all the planets in order!! We have had the chance to visit the space center as well as watch the shuttle take off. (once from an area near the space center and once at night from our front yard).
Well, we were hoping to have been able to move back to Michigan by now. Obviously that is not the case. We are sure that we won't be able to do it until the economy turns around. There is just not enough there for us to be able to live a comfortable life style....pay bills etc. Even down here we have felt the effect of the economy with Mike's work. We came down here to him having a job making a decent salary...not great, but decent. 10 months later he no longer had that job. Fortunately that boss set him up with a new job so there was no down time for him. Unfortunately the money is less. We are making it and some times are easier then others. We do realize that it could be much worse and there are others who are not as fortunate as us. We just hope (like everyone else) that the economy improves and we are able to permenantly move back to Michigan sooner rather then later.
We hope you are all doing well. I will write again soon! Take care!

Beginner Blogger

Hello All!
I thought I would give this blog thing a try. I don't expect that I will keep up with it....even though I am often on the computer. I feel like I keep up well enough through other methods of communication. Maybe I will surprise myself. Maybe once Michael starts soccer I will keep up with it more.
We hope everyone is well.
